Peace doesn’t occur when everything is exactly as it should be. Peace occurs when nothing is as it should be, and yet there is quiet and calm to be found in your spirit.
I am grateful for peace in the middle of the season of “nothing is as it should be.” I am thankful for small blessings, that aren’t actually small blessings at all.
I am grateful for the sound of my feet hitting the pavement during a run, the steadiness of the air moving in and out of my lungs.
I am grateful for cold iced tea in warm weather.
I am grateful for the strong arms of my husband, and the way I fit perfectly into them.
I am even more grateful for his strong heart and strong character.
I am grateful for long hours with good friends.
I am grateful for the sound of my puppy’s tiny feet clicking across hardwood floors as she chases me like a shadow.
I am grateful for lessons learned and for a half-mile gained.
I am grateful for the knowledge that, even when it feels as though nothing is as it should be…
Everything is exactly as it should be.
I am grateful that, even when I am a broken, frail mess of a human, my God remains un-overwhelmable. He is never surprised and He will not come undone.
